Our Journal

Northern Studies is the peer-reviewed journal of the Scottish Society for Northern Studies. In accordance with the interdisciplinary interests of the Society, its content encompasses subjects such as archaeology, history, literature and ethnography and stretches from the medieval period to the present day.

Papers written by students, established academics and independent researchers are welcome. Submissions to the journal are peer-reviewed in a double-blind manner by scholars with expertise in the relevant subject area.

Contributions for possible inclusion in Northern Studies and books for review are welcome.

Since its initial instalment in 1973, over 50 volumes of Northern Studies have been published. All but the most recent edition are digitally available.
